Basil is used for respiratory problems such as bronchitis, coughs, colds, asthma, flu and emphysema. It is also used as an antidote for a poisonous insect or snake bite.
It improves blood circulation and the digestive system.
Here in the West it is known as a “cooling” herb and is often used for rheumatic pain, irritable skin conditions and for those of a nervous disposition.
Basil helps with anxiety, depression, fatigue, insomnia, migraine and nervous tension. It clears the head, relieves intellectual fatigue and gives the mind strength and clarity.
However, this oil should be avoided during pregnancy.
